Three Comics by E.A. Bethea

E. A. Bethea is a New Orleans-born artist and poet who lives by the beach in Far Rockaway, New York City.  A creator of comic zines for twenty years, her work has appeared in No Tokens, Diner Journal, Randy, Smoke Signal, and several other publications. She is the author of Book of Daze, a collection of new and selected comics and drawings (Domino Books, 2017).

The second issue of Canadian cartoonist Julie Doucet’s Dirty Plotte begins with a four-panel strip called “Month of December.” We see the author standing on the edge of a highway overpass, looking down. She remarks “Christmas is coming… / Snif, it’s cold.…” She hurls herself off the ramp, yelling “And I’m gonna die!!!?”
